Our Merinos
We grow superfine Merino wool with our Merino sheep flock
For 50 years, we have been breeding and raising superfine Merino wool sheep. They are bred to suit our environment and grow superfine, bright white wool for fine apparel and suiting.
Merino sheep
Our Merino sheep grow 16-17.5 micron superfine wool. The wool is used in fine apparel and suiting and we pride ourselves in producing bright, white wool. Suited to the environment, our sheep are medium build and adapted to the cold winters and hot summers experienced in the Southern Tablelands. Five years ago, we transitioned to a non-Mulesed enterprise and our wool is certified Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), Schnieder Authentico and we are in the process of Ecological Outcome Verification.
Grazing management
We manage our Merinos in large mobs that graze in a time-controlled cycle. This means that the sheep are always moving on to fresh, good feed and this regenerates the landscape by the cycle of animal impact and rest. The sheep graze and fertilise the pastures and when they move on, the paddock is rested for two to four months (depending on the growing season). This allows the complex relationship between grasses, forbs and legumes, macro-organisms, the soil and soil micro-organisms to work together and regenerate the land.
