About Us

We grow superfine Merino wool and holistically manage our environment in the Southern Tablelands of NSW, Australia as an integrated, regenerative farm.

Our purpose

Our mission is to grow beautiful, high quality Merino wool whilst restoring and protecting our ecosystems and biodiversity. We have been practicing conservation farming techniques and transitioning to regenerative practices for almost three decades. We wish to be growing Merino wool for generations to come and want to set future generations up for success by leaving the land in a better way than our generation inherited it.

Our family

Our family business is run by Rod Edwards and Jenny Bell and now includes the third generation of wool growers on Bohara in its management. Riley, Rod and Jenny’s son, now works full-time on the farm and daughters Fay and Ella are involved in an off-farm capacity.

Our Environment

We live in the grasslands of the Southern Tablelands, along the Great Dividing Range of New South Wales. Our grasslands include native perennials such as microlaena, kangaroo grass, and wallaby grass and introduced species such as cocksfoot, phalaris and rye grass. We have remnant forests of yellow box and stringy bark and over the past 30 years we have planted tens of thousands of native trees and shrubs. At Bohara, we have shown that through changed management practices, we are able to repair erosion, improve the quality and retention of  water in the landscape, increase soil organic matter and biodiversity resulting in improved animal performance, wool strength and quality.

Our Merinos

Our core enterprise is our self-replacing Merino sheep flock which we have been growing and developing for more than 50 years. We run on average 8,000 Merinos across our two properties Bohara and Cullerin. We transitioned to a non-mulesed enterprise 6 years ago. Our wool and business is certified Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), Schneider Authentico and verified by the Land to Market Ecological Outcome Verification scheme which measures and monitors our environment and verifies that our ecosystem is regenerating through our management. We run our Merinos with time-controlled grazing management to ensure they are always moving on to fresh, good feed and importantly, we regenerate the landscape through rest and grazing.
